Volleyball Season has Ended

Life has been pretty busy in our neck of the woods and doesn’t show much indication that we will be slowing down any time soon.  In addition the kid’s schoolwork and ice-skating, they have been playing volleyball. Last night the girl’s team finished the season with a tournament.  They came in second.  My daughter, 10, playing among 13-18 year olds, was the youngest player on the team.  When she began playing about 2 months ago she had no idea what she was doing, but with her usual perseverance, she improved greatly.  She has decided to play basketball and practices begin today.  She also wants to cheer, which she has done in the past.  I was asked to supervise.  I have no cheerleading experience, but I supervised the squad for 2 years.  Although my son played volleyball, he has no desire to play basketball.  (I don’t blame him.)  My oldest was involved in sports and was an exceptional volleyball player.  He and his buddy are planning on playing men’s doubles when his friend gets out of the Navy.  I have no idea where this athleticism comes from.  I played sports in high school, mostly because I went to a very small school and they needed the bodies. Sports are not my first choice of activities.  I loved volleyball and softball, and even played in a women’s softball league, but I abhor running and totally dislike exercise.  My husband didn’t enjoy sports either, so we are at a loss where our kids get their desire.  We don’t even watch sports on T.V. if we can help it.  We are glad that they reap the health benefits from all this activity and more power to them.

Here are some pictures of the kids in action from this season.  My son is #2 and my daughter is #53

Maybe the kids got their sports yernings from their

pepere. I played all the sports when I was in

High School… basketball, hockey, football, baseball, weight lifting, handball, etc…. Had no choice and

    found them to be so—so.

Being active is so healthy. I was raised with sports, though I never excelled. DH never grew up with sports on tv. So I taught him everything I know! lol For my kids' SI therapy, I have them get out to play ball in the yard. It is so good. Great job for your dd to be the youngest and hang in there!

    Blessings,

    Laurie

So far, no team sports here, but with my son in particular, it's just a matter of time. He is foaming at the mouth to play baseball and soccer. Thankfully A is content with dance and TKD for now. I can't handle anything else in our schedule.
