Crazy Busy

The past few weeks have been crazy busy for us.  We are struggling through some academic issues the kids are having as their subjects increase in difficulty. My position at TOS is going through some transitions as I have become a Store Assistant.  (You’ll need to keep your eyes open for something really awesome that TOS is offering as a special Christmas Gift that I had a huge part in).  Tonight is Boy Scouts, tomorrow is Girl Scouts. This week end is the Annual Girl Scout sleepover for my troop and we will be marching in the local parade on Saturday.  Monday is the Boy Scout party.  I have yet to write up our annual family newsletter let alone get the Christmas cards ready.  The tree is not up and half the outside lights just won’t stay lit. And let’s not even mention Christmas shopping.

But you know, despite all this flurry of activity, I feel the Christ of Christmas throughout.  The kids have been extra helpful.  My son even made supper all by himself last night while my daughter and I were at church getting ready for the sleepover. They both have been working on Christmas projects on their own. They have also been trying to finish their work in a timely manner and haven’t been as bad about complaining when asked to do their chores.  The biggest thing I have noticed that they are not hinting so much about what they want for Christmas but a whole lot more about what they want to give or do for others. They are always very kindhearted but they seem more so this year.  Or maybe I’m just noticing it more.  This really has helped keep the stress level down in the house and is such a blessing to see my kids keeping Jesus the focus of the holidays without my prodding.

It's great that the kids are being supportive during this hecktic time of the year. Although we all know that "Jesus is the reason for the season", we all get caught up in the "rush". As the students get older, I'm sure we realize how much we've forgot since we finished school ourselves. ….

It is so wonderful to see that spark of giving growing in our children. I am glad you are keeping your stress level down. I hope you a have a peaceful next few weeks.
