Yesterday’s adventure in bread making was a great success. Both my kids and my daughter’s friend participated in the process and we had a lot of fun. Everything went so smoothly; I’m inclined to try it again some time. My daughter’s friend especially enjoyed herself. She had never baked from scratch before and learned all kinds of things. We also included a brief science lessons on yeast and how the whole baking process works. Then we ventured into a history discussion of how our foremothers had to bake everything form scratch and what that must have been like. The only drawback was that when I went to use the bread bowls for the soup, I could cut out the right amount of the bread for the soup to sit in. It didn’t matter. It was delicious anyways. Thought I might share some of the highlights of the day.
Great slide show. I love homemade bread with soup in it. YUM! Looks like you had a great educational day afterall.

When you want to do bread bowls…..
Seperate your bread dough and cover the outside of a bowl (something that's oven safe). Place them on a baking sheet. Don't forget to spray the bowls with non-stick spray first. The bread bowls will pop right off, and they're all ready to go.
I sound like I know what I'm talking about huh? Really, I've never done it myself, but it's an old Home & Garden trick.

Great work!

That looks like so much fun! And delicious too. My mother used to make fresh bread in the mornings and I would wake to the smell of it before school. Unfortunately, that is not likely to happen any time soon at my house. I can dream though.
I loved this slideshow!!! I have a breadmachine ( my dc love it when I make use of it) but have not tried baking bread from scratch in the oven. Want to share the recipe. That soup looks yummy to, is it homemade also? I know my DD would just love this. She enjoys making the bread with the machine. You lilttle captions were just perfect. Looks like fun in the kitchen at your house.
Have a blessed week and thanks for sharing.
