Added Activity

This has been another hectic week.  Yesterday was our most ‘relaxed’ day with only Boy Scouts in the evening, but the rest of the week has been a flurry of errands, practices, lessons, and just plain trying to get the schoolwork done. We have an out of town volleyball game tonight and an in-town game tomorrow night.  Who says that homeschool kids need socialization?

Now that I am allowing the kids to get on the computer here at HSB, they have been hunting for kids their own ages.  I have tried using the search engines here but always seem to get error messages.  They are excited about the Homeschool Kids Write blog and hoping that they will meet a lot of kids through it.  I have made it part of their weekly assignments.  After posting their written assignments, they are going to at least two other blogs a day.  Not only does this give them some reading practice, but I think it may help their writing skills, especially in the communication of ideas department.   They hear me speak often of my blogger friends.  It is funny how I feel like I know these people whom I have never met.  I find it so uplifting when I receive a comment or someone messages me.  I can’t explain it.  I don’t think it’s just the connection that we have through our experiences in homeschooling.  It seems to be more the sharing of our ideas and of our desires to be of support and encouragement to each other. The kids are looking forward to having the same experience with other kids their ages.  So, now that they have added blogging to their list of activities, are daily plates are definitely full. They have approached this new activity with the same convictions they do most everything (except for chores, LOL); full speed ahead.

(Update-The Homeschool Kids Write Blog is now gone.)

    A. is really excited about the writing assignments. She loves to write….it's just finding the time to do it. She is a busy girl, and as a result, I am a busy mom. Fridays aren't quite as hectic, so maybe those can be her blogging days. Your kids' sites look great!

I am in the same boat as you are with the busyness this time of year. We to are running all around for volleyball games. My daughter is interested in the kids writing blog. I think she was going to sign up yesterday. But didn't get to it. Thanks for organizing this, I think it is a wonderful idea. Hope you are able to enjoy your down times when you can find them even if its just for a moment.

LOL yes my kids are interested in all my new on-line friends too, from blogging and yahoo groups! They aren't too interested in blogging yet and dh isn't in favor of it yet for them. But they always ask me what I've posted and they are getting to know you and others! =)

    Blessings,

I'm not sure if I've commented on your blog before, but I have read it often. First, I agree with the making friends online. I have been so completely blessed by the friends I've made on here. I'm not sure of your kids blog pages, I couldn't find links on your site, but I wanted to tell you my 12yo daughter has her own blog. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/bookworm12 if one of your children wants to check it out.

I know what you mean about HSB. This is such a wonderful encouragement to me! I feel so much more encouraged since I started blogging here. I feel like I have so many new friends with awesome ideas and help- not to mention getting to "talk" and record things on my mind or done in our schooling, etc. I am just getting my kids started with the Homeschool Kids Write Assignments. Hopefully this week we will get ours posted. (We have a little less running around this week!)
