This has been another hectic week. Yesterday was our most ‘relaxed’ day with only Boy Scouts in the evening, but the rest of the week has been a flurry of errands, practices, lessons, and just plain trying to get the schoolwork done. We have an out of town volleyball game tonight and an in-town game tomorrow night. Who says that homeschool kids need socialization?
Now that I am allowing the kids to get on the computer here at HSB, they have been hunting for kids their own ages. I have tried using the search engines here but always seem to get error messages. They are excited about the Homeschool Kids Write blog and hoping that they will meet a lot of kids through it. I have made it part of their weekly assignments. After posting their written assignments, they are going to at least two other blogs a day. Not only does this give them some reading practice, but I think it may help their writing skills, especially in the communication of ideas department. They hear me speak often of my blogger friends. It is funny how I feel like I know these people whom I have never met. I find it so uplifting when I receive a comment or someone messages me. I can’t explain it. I don’t think it’s just the connection that we have through our experiences in homeschooling. It seems to be more the sharing of our ideas and of our desires to be of support and encouragement to each other. The kids are looking forward to having the same experience with other kids their ages. So, now that they have added blogging to their list of activities, are daily plates are definitely full. They have approached this new activity with the same convictions they do most everything (except for chores, LOL); full speed ahead.
(Update-The Homeschool Kids Write Blog is now gone.)
