I have been reading an interesting book by Chuck Norris called Black Belt Patriotism-How to Reawaken America. I’m not very far into it but what I have read has been very thought provoking. Most of what he has to say seems like common sense and simple. This is the first time I have ever read a book of this type. I usually stick to biographies and autobiographies. That was one reason I picked this up at the library. I had read his autobiography, Against All Odds: My Story, a few years back and found that also be to be quite interesting. I have to say up front that I am not a martial arts fan nor do I consider myself a Chuck Norris fan in the sense of the word “fan”, but I have found him to be an eloquent writer expressing his straight forward point.
Throughout Black Belt of Patriotism, he backs up his opinions with the words of our founding fathers and Scripture passages. One particular passage in the third chapter where he was writing about government debt just summed up what I have been feeling. He quoted George Washington who had such a simple philosophy that I think that if adopted it so many would not be in the situations they are in. Washington said to James Welch in 1799, “To contract new debts is not the way to pay for old ones.” I think that some of us have fallen into the trap of using a credit card or refinancing to pay off debts at one time or another. I know that we have done that in the past and it has taken years to become financially stable, although we are not yet completely out of debt. But if our country had adhered to the words of Washington and followed the Biblical principles we would not be in the financially instability that we are in.
Mr. Norris also talks about the education system and the fact that his family homeschools.
I am only about a quarter of the way through this book, but what I have read so far has been so interesting that I wanted to share some of what I have gleamed from it.

Interesting that Chuck Norris is writing about George Washington. My husband is reading Chuck Norris' biography now and was raving about it the other night. That's saying a lot because he is not a book person.
Blessings,
Laurie
I read Chuck's book and it is awesome. Check out the dozens of 5-star reviews at Amazon. Chuck and his wife Gena also recently gave a great interview about their Christian faith… http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=a98d163d2efea0fb7a90
