Mother’s Words Dealing with Obedience

How many times have we caught ourselves using the same old clichés we have heard a thousand times ourselves?  More times than I’m sure we care to admit.  Here are few rantings that are sure to make any kids eyes roll back in their head.

Don’t make me get up.

By the time I count to three…

Do as I say, not as I do.

Because I said so!

How many times do I have to tell you?

I’m not going to tell you again.

I’ve told you a million times

What part of ‘NO’ don’t you understand?

You can make the rules when you have a family of your own.

Not while your living under my roof.

Don’t ever let me catch you doing that again.

Look at me when I’m talking.

Don’t look at me that way

I used to hate hearing any one of these when I was young and they were coming out of my mothers mouth. And now I catch myself saying them all the time. I think that it is part of some foreign language that only moms speak. Which would explain why our kids start to get that glassy eye look like they don't understand a word we are saying.

My personal favourite is, don't make me move, I hate unnecessary movement 🙂

A good website to curb that, although not for the fainthearted, is http://www.raisinggodlytomatoes.com.

OK. I remember telling my mom I would never give the answer "because I said so" to my kids. "What kind of answer is that anyway" I would ask her. HA! Well, I'm almost sure I said that one today:) Along with a few of the others. Great post.
