The month of November is often associated with thankfulness. While we say prayers of thanks everyday, in November we go a step further. As a visual reminder of all the things we are grateful for, each year we make a bulletin board. We write what we are thankful for on various shapes. We have used pumpkins, cornucopias and leaves printed out on colored paper. This year we stopped by a teacher’s supply store and bought a turkey shaped note pad to add to the other shapes. We use fall related bulletin board pieces as the back drop, but you could easily create your own thankful bulletin board by drawing a tree on large paper and posting it on the fridge or the back of the door, or tape your shapes to a window, or even use a basket and fill it up with thankfulness. This visual reminder of all our blessings makes the approaching holiday season more meaningful for our family.
Here are some shapes for you to print out if you would like to make your own display of thankfulness.
Small son of ours if VERY visual and should respond well to this. I appreciate you putting patterns for us to use on your blog. I've added you to my friends list, stop by sometime.
We've done this before using a large branch from outdoors propped in a large container to be our Thankful Tree. I wonder why we haven't done that in the last few years…oh that's right! Because of all the construction mess! lol Well, thankful for that mess because of the new rooms dh keeps giving to me!
Blessings,
Laurie
I've done something similar from time to time, where we put our blessings in a basket, and then find a time to read them all.
Thanks for commenting on my poem…I've had the idea for a long time, it just came together in the last month or so, sat for a couple of weeks, and I tidied it up yesterday. I have a file of some that I've been meddling with for months or years even. I was working on one a little while ago that started in Feb. but just seemed to be missing something. Finally got a tinge of inspiration, and now it's gonna sit again 'til I decide if I like it. LOL! One's been waiting for nearly 7 years, and I still don't have it. And some are in an old file I haven't hardly messed with for years…I really need to organize that one.
Blessings,
Anne-Marie
