May 25 and 26th was the kids 60’s, 70’s and 80’s Ice Skating Show. Even though they had had only 5 lessons they chose to participate. And to help support the home school program, so did 2 other moms and I. One of the moms had just learned to skate herself. We all did well and no one fell. I was very proud of my children. The other 3 skaters have been skating for a while and could do spins and jumps and other fancy moves. My daughter, who 5 weeks ago was hugging the wall, did bunny hops and one foot glides. My 6 -foot tall son chose to do what I call scissor swizzles. All their moves were done while holding a blown-up ball of the world to the song “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” Both of the kids are now hooked on skating and want to continue learning. We’ll be adding this to our schedule. I think it’ll be good for them. As long as they are enjoying themselves, we will continue. Here is the movie of their routine. This was done the second night and my son forgot what he was doing, but you get the idea. (We are the tallest people in the group.)

I can't seem to view the video, though. We don't have an ice skating rink in town, but do have a roller rink. The owner is very kind to homeschoolers, and allows us to skate for $2 per kid on Fridays, no charge for skate rental. She doesn't charge for the littlest ones, so for a very small fee, we have a great outing every other Friday. We moms make sure to support the business by purchasing snacks and such, and OCCASIONALLY, we allow the kids to get tokens and play the games.
I think I may have to start skating, after reading your post! ; )
