Music brings me such comfort and joy. I don’t think there is a day that has gone by that it has been excluded from my life. Whether listening to the radio in the car running errands, playing old records or tapes (does anyone remember those?) on the stereo, enjoying tunes on an MP3 player while working on projects, shopping for groceries being serenaded by piped in music, or songs of praise and worship to God during church, music just seems to surround us. And where there is music there is a song to be sung, and I love to sing. It doesn’t matter where we are, if I know the song I can’t but help to sing along. It just makes me happy.
Music holds memories. It could be the lullabies that I would make up to sing to my children as babies, or the “Rise and Shine” song that I would sing at the top of my lungs to get them up when they were older or “Do You Love Me” when I was being playful with them. Then there is “Always and Forever”, which my husband and I consider ‘our song’, or “You are My Sunshine” that played on my oldest son’s musical toy, or the “I Love You” song from PBS’s Barney show which was my middle son’s favorite as a toddler, or the “Blues Clues” mail song that my daughter would always dance to when she was little. All these and so many more just evoke so much emotion and joy in our lives. Music causes my heart to soar and lifts me up when I am feeling blue. I am thankful for the music that creates the soundtrack of my life.
