Tree Planting
There will be no Sew Crafty Friday or Flashback Friday this week. I haven’t been very crafty this week and Kellie Ann is ill. So I thought I’d just finish the week out with another Earth friendly activity the kids did this week. As you may or may not remembered, we are doing Amanda Bennett’s Garden Unit study, so this fit right in with that theme. Last Saturday my son participated in the local annual … Continue reading
A Work of Art
This was my inspiration for this poem. Blooms so bold and beautiful, Painted white as snow, Spring kissed colors before my eyes, Behold the radiant glow. Tiny buds peak their heads, On a canvas of blue and green, Washed in sunlit glory, A wonder to be seen. Reds and yellows, purples and pinks, A rainbow palette from above, The Artist, the Sculptor, the Master, My Lord’s gift of Love. ©2008 Virginia Donahue

It seemed to them that it wasn’t working. After about 30 or 40 more cycles of dipping into the wax and then into the water, they began to see some progress. Then they wanted to add some color so we added … Continue reading
Stewards of the Earth
April 22 is the Earth Day. There may be the argument that this is a secular day, but Genesis 1:26 tells that that we were put in charge of the Earth. Growing up in the ‘70’s around the influence of the ‘hippie tree huggers’ (no, my parents weren’t hippie tree huggers), I have tried to live an eco-friendly way of life. … Continue reading
Flashback Friday- Things I Can’t do Anymore
What kinds of things can’t you do anymore? There are many things I used to be able to do when I was younger that seem just out of reach these days. I could read the fine print, remember what I went into the kitchen for, and stay up to all hours of the night. Now I’m lost without my magnifying glasses, I’m lucky I remember where the kitchen is, and happy to stay awake to see the end … Continue reading
