Math Madness

My 10-year-old daughter and I have been at odds over her math.  She has convinced herself that she hates it and has become extremely rebellious when it comes to doing the work the way it should be done.  She is trying to take shortcuts that don’t result in the correct answer and insisting that the work can be done in her head.  She doesn’t like to use more than one page of her notebook for … Continue reading

Featured Friend-Delight Yourself in the Lord

I’d like to introduce you to Tracy from Delight Yourself in the Lord as my next ‘Featured Friend’.  What a lovely person!  Hailing from Australia, she writes with wit and charm.  She shares a lot about what homeschooling and life is like in her country. She really enjoys comments and hearing from others, so make time to stop by and say hello.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy the visit. (If you would like the “Featured Friend” blinkie, … Continue reading

Paper Chain Timeline

I came across this idea the other day and we have started to use it.  We have had a time trying to fit all the historical events we studied on a traditional wall timeline.  The kids each have a notebook timeline but we like to have one visible in our classroom. Prayer Request

This post is a request for prayer. Friday evening, my oldest son had taken his brother and a friend to see a movie.  When he returned home, his house had been broken into.  His television was smashed and his laptop was stolen. He was a little upset about losing his things, but was saddened most by the loss of the photos he had on his computer and had not had time to save to a … Continue reading

Our Flower Garden

I thought I’d share what God has blessed us with in our flower garden over the past few weeks.  It really has been amazing.  We planted the Clematis and the climbing rose just last year.  The rose was supposed to be a bush type with tiny roses like the one beside it, but apparently it was mis-marked.  The older rose bushes have buds, but have never produced such an abundance of blooms.  My gladiolas are … Continue reading
