Weekend Happenings

This past weekend was a pretty busy one.  Our oldest son found an apartment in town, so we spent Friday moving him in.  It’s a really nice place and we have heard good things about the complex.  The only draw back for him is that he doesn’t have the garage and out door living space he did at his trailer, but at least he will have neighbors that may look out for him.  We still … Continue reading

Mother’s Words Dealing with Obedience

How many times have we caught ourselves using the same old clichés we have heard a thousand times ourselves?  More times than I’m sure we care to admit.  Here are few rantings that are sure to make any kids eyes roll back in their head. On Budget

I always enjoy the weekly e-newsletter from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.  They are filled with helpful tidbits on a wide variety of topics.  This week was about Budgeting.  To some this is a concept of mystery and frustration while others handle it with the expertise of an accountant.  I think I fall somewhere in the middle. When I was first out on my own, I attended a Financial Planning workshop, (which, incidentally, was given by … Continue reading

Story of the World Reading List

We used the popular Story of the World for 2 years. The kids really enjoyed this series. Along with the coloring pages and map work in the activity books, there are other reading suggestions. At the beginning of each chapter there are corresponding pages that can be read from the Usborne Book of World History, the Usborne Internet Linked Encyclopedia of World History, the Kingfisher Illustrated History of the World, and the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia. … Continue reading
